Wall-hanging multiple, comprising white plaster sculpture and red painted chair, contained within black painted lumbar-wood box, with incised signature and numbered 'AP 11/30' on silver plaque on the reverse (an artist's proof, the edition was 150), published by Editions Alecto Ltd., London, in excellent condition. Segal's “Girl on a Chair” was his first multiple. It was an experimental piece made whilst he was working on a series of sculptures of figures observed through doorways. The multiple is designed to hang on the wall but could also be shown on top of the original wooden crate. Registered in the Archives of the George and Helen Segal Foundation as SF 0065.
